24x30 Metal Garage: Prices, Door Options & What Fits

A 24x30 metal garage is the two-car size for people who drive trucks or want a real workshop. It encloses 720 square feet, keeps the standard 24-foot width for two doors, and adds 6 feet of depth over a 24x24 for long pickups, a workbench wall or storage at the back. This page covers what a 24x30 costs installed, with and without concrete, how to lay out the doors, and how tall to go.

How Big Is A 24x30 Metal Garage?

  • Footprint: 24' x 30' (720 sq ft)
  • Clear span: The full 24-foot width is open inside
  • Standard leg (sidewall) height: 9' on fully enclosed garages at many builders, with taller legs up to about 16'
  • Framing: 14-gauge steel tubing standard, 12-gauge as an upgrade, with a vertical roof the usual choice

What Fits In A 24x30 Garage?

Two half-ton pickups, each close to 7 feet wide before mirrors, leave about 3 feet in each gap across the 24-foot width. The 30-foot depth covers a long crew-cab pickup, which can run 22 feet with an 8-foot bed, and still leaves 8 feet or more for a workbench, tool chests or a mower.

Door Options For A 24x30 Garage

  • End entry (doors on the 24-foot gable end): Two 9-foot roll-up doors, or one 16-foot double door plus a walk-in door. You drive in along the 30-foot depth.
  • Side entry (doors on the 30-foot sidewall): Room for two or three roll-up doors, which suits a driveway that runs along the long side. Side-entry door height is limited by the leg height, so plan taller legs.
  • Workshop end: Add a walk-in door and windows at the back for light and a separate entrance.

Most builder base prices leave doors, walk-ins and windows out, so price them in.

How Tall Should A 24x30 Garage Be?

Builders generally want legs at least 1 foot taller than the roll-up door. Nine-foot legs fit an 8-foot door for cars and stock pickups. Go to 10- or 11-foot legs for a 9- or 10-foot door if you have a lifted truck, a van or a trailer, or plan a car lift in the shop bay.

How Much Does A 24x30 Metal Garage Cost?

In our October 2026 check:

  • Base enclosed building: A 24x30 vertical-roof garage with 9-foot legs was listed at $7,510 installed, with garage doors, walk-in doors and windows priced separately.
  • Equipped building: A 24x30 with 10-foot legs, two roll-up doors, a walk-in door and a window was listed from $13,420 installed at another builder.
  • Price guide: One 2026 published guide put installed 24x30 metal garages at $11,817, with the slab extra.

24x30 Metal Garage With Concrete

The building price usually does not include the slab. The same 2026 guide put concrete at $8 to $10 per square foot, about $5,760 to $7,200 for a 24x30 slab. Local concrete prices vary widely, so get a local concrete quote alongside your building quotes. Pour the slab to the frame size your builder gives you, square and level, and confirm the anchor layout first.

Do You Need A Permit For A 24x30 Garage?

Almost certainly. At 720 square feet, a 24x30 is well above small-structure exemptions, and enclosed garages get closer review than carports. Check permits, setbacks and required wind and snow ratings with your local building department.
